This week the Illinois High School Esports Association became an affiliate for the North American Scholastic Esports Federation.
So what does that mean for us?
Well, this partnership opens up many more opportunities for us as an organization. We now have a relationship with one of the largest, global, high school esports organizations. They have contacts and partnerships that will help us ensure our students and coaches have the best experience with esports.
Here are a few highlights for what NASEF can do for you:
-Resources and Toolkits for almost anything related to esports. If you have a question about a program they have a guide to help you. If they don’t, you can ask and they will help connect you with someone who knows.
-Esports Curriculum to help your students create a connection to jobs/careers in the esports field.
-Beyond the Game Challenges where students can collaborate to create projects which can help them earn scholarships and your club receive grant funds.
-Extra Credit competitions for your program in games that may not be provided by the IHSEA
-Have I mentioned that this program is entirely FREE? Once you sign your school up you will gain access to all of these tools for your club.
About the IHSEA:
The IHSEA endeavors to create and foster competitive esports programs in all Illinois high schools by providing assistance, organizing tournaments, and presenting information to schools and advisers. These programs cultivate talents in potentially underserved populations and provide a pathway to college scholarships and careers in the gaming industry. The IHSEA pledges to invest proceeds back into schools and students to advance esports programs in secondary education.
The North America Scholastic Esports Federation is working to ensure that ALL students possess the knowledge and skills needed to be society’s game changers: educated, productive, and empathetic individuals. NASEF is on a mission to provide opportunities for ALL students to use esports as a platform to acquire critical communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills needed to thrive in work and in life. The Federation’s core values are intertwined through all aspects of education and play: learning, opportunity, community, diversity, and respect.
